Red Fox Release

Thank you Toronto Wildlife Centre, thank you to Andrew for including me in the release and to all the volunteers and staff at TWC who make the difference.

Two months ago Toronto Wildlife Centre got a call about a mangy fox. Trap set and success within a week. Here is the beauty after treatment. Ready to be released back in the wild. I get so excited to see an animal released back in the wild. They know they are home and 95% of the time when they feel safe they turn around and you can imagine them saying thanks but it is your turn to get lost. At the Fox Release Emily and Donna and I watch as Andrew opens the cage and before the door is even open out goes the Fox. We watched in amazement as he jumped and bounced in the snow on the way to the hill. Andrew figured it was approx. 8 feet between paw prints. WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Great Horned Owl at The Owl Foundation

The Owl Foundation had a very old Great Horned Owl to release the same
day as Donna and I were doing Barred Owl releases. 
We were able to see this old girl before we left.

The Owl Foundation has the owls in huge flight cages to make sure
they are healthy enough to go back in the wild.
But they must catch them before they can go free.

Annick is very good at this.
 

The Owl Foundation was so pleased to be able to release this owl.
You don't see many old ones.

Barred owl release

Donna and I took a trip to The Owl Foundation to pick up two
juvenile owls to be released. 
The Toronto Wildlife Centre rescued the owls and then send them to the
Owl Foundation for rehab.

Donna did the first release and this young owl was ready to come out of the box.
The most amazing part of the release was there were 8 deer in the woods around us.
Taking photos at dusk is always so I hope you enjoy these shots.

On the way to The Owl Foundation we stopped at Burlington to enjoy the
landscapes.  Donna was watching a Hooded Merganzer in the water.

Barred Owl Release

A Barred Owl release up north of Orilla. With Jen Howard and Pam Higgins (Wye Marsh) Stopped at the Owl Foundation to pick up a juvenile male Barred Owl. Annick quickly caught him in the net and I was able to get a good look at the owl. The owl was weighed and then pack in a box for the drive up north. On the way I hit two snowstorm.
